It is with great sadness but LCPC must cancel the annual Bash for 2011. The San Jacinto River Authority has been ordered, from the city of Houston, to release surface water from Lake Conroe to replenish drought inflicted Lake Houston. This, coupled with normal evaporation, is expected to equate to a loss of four or five inches per week. It's not known, at this time, how much water will be released, but it will only add to the current horrendous conditions.
Not only is the Houston/Conroe area affected, but the rest of the state isn't fairing well either. Fellow boaters, posting on Facebook, etc. are experiencing the same conditions of no rain and record temperatures in the triple digits.
The main basin of Lake Conroe is still safe but boat ramps are steep and there are some new shallow areas popping up in front of neighborhoods and elsewhere. The founding members and our spouses would still like to have some type of get together somewhere in Texas to celebrate a wonderful year of boating, new friends, and sunshine. We have had several emails from members on recommendations, Lake LBJ, Kemah to San Jacinto Run, Lake Livingston just to name a few. If you have any suggestions we would like for you to contact us via Facebook with your suggestions. While this FREE raft-up/fun run won't have the same level festivities and goodies that The Bash is known for, we can still get together and enjoy a day on the water in good company.
Again, we are saddened to deliver this new but for the safety of our friends and members, we feel it's a wise decision.
Lake Conroe Powerboat Club was founded from a common passion of boating.
LCPC's mission is connecting powerboat owners to achieve the maximum enjoyment from their boating lifestyles. We stress safety for all events, on and off the water; we want everyone to have a great time. LCPC caters to all boats – a powerboat is any boat with a motor. Whether you are casually interested in relaxing on the water or going fast across the lake, chances are you'll find a member with common interest.
Visit us on Facebook where you can meet our members, ask questions or get detailed information about upcoming events.
